How Sales Funnels Save Time and Money

As many marketers look toward the year ahead and brace for possible budget reductions, it’s more important than ever to focus on improving marketing efficiency.

Efficiency, or the ratio of effort to results, is a common goal for businesses across industries. It helps ensure that the amount of time and resources devoted to marketing efforts is in line with a company’s goals and enables them to grow in a sustainable way.

In the marketing world, there are a variety of metrics and KPIs that can help a business improve its marketing efficiency. One of the most important of these is the marketing efficiency ratio (MER), a measurement that allows marketers to track how their ad campaigns are performing.

MER is calculated by dividing the total revenue from marketing campaigns by the total amount spent on those campaigns. This gives marketers an idea of how well their advertising dollars are working in conjunction with other marketing efforts to generate sales. It can also be helpful to compare MER to other performance metrics, such as the return on ad spend (ROAS).

The most important factor in determining marketing efficiency is how well your marketing campaigns are converting prospects into customers. A successful marketing campaign must be able to do this while keeping costs low, or at least maintaining a positive ROI. There are a number of ways to improve your marketing efficiency, including implementing a conversion funnel plan, focusing on lead quality, and using data and analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.

What Is the Difference Between Marketing Efficiency and Effectiveness?
While there is some debate as to whether marketing efficiency or effectiveness is the more important metric, most experts agree that both are necessary. In fact, some experts even suggest that a balance of efficiency and effectiveness is the best approach for any marketing team.

For example, KC Karnes, head of content at CleverTap, an AI-powered customer lifecycle and user retention platform, said that “a focus on efficiency is great, but only if it’s not at the expense of other goals such as growth sustainability.”

A conversion funnel can be beneficial to any organization because it helps them define a clear path to success. The process begins with the acquisition of new leads, and continues through the stages of awareness, interest, consideration, and action.

When a company is new and needs to attract a large audience, it may need to spend more money on advertising in order to build brand awareness and generate leads. However, as the company grows and gains traction, it can begin to cut back on advertising spending while still remaining profitable and competitive.

In addition to tracking metrics such as MER and ROAS, companies can take steps to improve their marketing efficiency by leveraging data and analytics, testing and optimizing campaigns, leveraging influencers, diversifying the media mix, and monitoring competitors. Doing so will help them reach their goals and keep pace with the changing marketing landscape.
